During the WWDC 2012 Apple announced the new app Passbook: a single digital wallet where all passes can be stored.
According to Apple, the word ‘pass’ Apple refers to a very wide ranging category, from boarding passes and discount coupon stores and even up to movie tickets, tram, the metro, restaurants, etc.
The novelty of Passbook represents great advantages for consumers and new marketing possibilities for the family-run as well as the multinational companies.
The idea is to create an app that replicates the well-ordered wallet in digital format. You’ll be able to use Passbook each time you need to board a flight, get in a movie theater and even get a discount at the store close to home.
Passes will be redeemed using the QR-code, bar codes and other easily scannable codes.
To generate Passbook passes that are customizable, you would need systems independent from Apple and some teams of leading developers have been made available to users.
Among these systems, Passdock is what stands out, thanks to the predefined templates in the categories of pass and previews in real-time, enabling developers and businesses to create, manage and distribute Passbook pass in a quick and complete way.
Passbook is integrated with the Lock Screen of your phone. This converts into a benefit in that it is sensitive to the geolocation and email on your mobile phone push notifications that alert you to schedule changes or discount vouchers for spending.
It is therefore a useful reminder that helps you keep updated to all types of pass, and additionally is a secure mechanism for dealing with sensitive documents. All digital passes generated by third parties are stored on Passbook, and that indicates an electronic version of those cards, loyalty cards and gift cards that you usually accumulate in your wallet or misplace in your pants pockets.
What are the advantages of having all these passes directly on the iPhone?
They appear due to geolocation
They provide updates and notifications in real time
They can be canceled and refunded if the device is lost.
And thanks to Passdock, the facility to generate customizable Passbook passes is seen as a great plus, even without the need to have iOS 6. Creating passes for Passbook has never come about easier.
